The Save Manager lets you take a named snapshot of your career at any moment, and come back to it later. It sits next to the automatic save, it never replaces it: the game keeps saving on its own after every action, a manual save is simply a point in time you decided to keep.
How to open it
- Sidebar → Saves (right above Settings). Available in every phase and in season, from the desk and the hub.
- Escape, B, or the header’s Back button closes it.
Save now
The top panel holds one text field and one button.
- The field is pre-filled with a suggested name — where you are right now, e.g.
1991 · GP 5 of 16or1990 · Phase 4: Driver Recruitment. Click it and type to replace it (40 characters max). - Save game (or Enter while the field is active) writes the snapshot and lists it below immediately.
A Saving… dialog shows while the file is written, then a confirmation you dismiss with OK or Enter. You stay on the screen and can keep playing.
The list
The first card is the automatic save — the state you are playing right now, with the time it was last written; it has no buttons. Below it, one card per manual save, newest first. Each card shows the name, where the career stood (season, calendar year, next GP or pre-season phase, and after practice / after qualifying when the save was taken in the middle of a weekend) and the date it was written.

A manual save is tied to the career it was taken from: another career’s saves never appear in the list, and deleting a career from the main menu deletes its manual saves with it.
What a manual save contains
Everything the automatic save contains — the full career — plus two companions so that loading it puts the world back exactly as it was:
- the race-weekend rollback point, when the save was taken mid-weekend, so Abandon weekend still works after a load;
- the results archive (every round of every series), so the history never runs ahead of the career you restored.
On disk the files sit in your saves/ folder as career_<slot>.manual_<id>.db (plus .weekend.db and .archive.db). They are synced by Steam Cloud like the rest of the folder. In the main menu, Load Career lists them under their career, each row tagged AUTO or MANUAL: pick a manual row to start from that snapshot, or the career row to continue where the automatic save left it. The ✕ on a manual row deletes that save only; on a career row it deletes the career with all its manual saves.
Notes
- Loading a manual save from mid-weekend brings back the Resume weekend? prompt, exactly as if you had quit the game at that point.
