Wiki under construction. Many concepts here are from alpha 0.2 and may still change. The wiki will be finalised for version 1.0 — for now it's here to help closed testers and, later, early-access players find their way around. Audio tab — engine, radio, driver, music volume sliders and how to balance the mix.

Work in progress. First draft is here, but content may evolve and screenshots are still being added. Spotted something wrong? Tell us on Discord.

The Audio tab has four volume sliders. Each is a normalised 0.0–1.0 multiplier applied independently to its sound bus.

Volume sliders

Engine Volume

Default 0.40.

Controls in-race engine sounds — the multi-car procedural engine synth + WAV sample mixer. This is the loudest channel by default; the 40% default is to keep it from drowning out commentary and radio chatter.

Rule of thumb: if you find yourself turning UP engine to hear cars on track, leave it at 0.40 and turn DOWN the other channels instead — the mix is calibrated relative to engine.

Radio Volume

Default 1.00.

In-race radio voice clips (“box, box”, “engine warning”, etc.). MP3-decoded and mixed via cpal.

Set lower if you find the voice clips annoying or louder than commentary text.

Driver Volume

Default 0.90.

Per-driver radio chatter (commentary spoken by driver-character voices). Currently a placeholder for a future feature — most builds have this channel quiet by default.

Music Volume

Default 0.50.

Background music — currently used for:

  • Grid presentation (musics/grid_pres.wav)
  • Career menu / main menu loops
  • Some career-mode transition cues

Set to 0.0 to disable music entirely without affecting other audio channels.

Reset Audio Defaults

The “Reset Defaults” button on the Audio tab restores:

  • Engine 0.40
  • Radio 1.00
  • Driver 0.90
  • Music 0.50

Save behaviour

Audio settings save to visuals/hud_preset.txt. Key=value:

engine_volume = 0.4000
radio_volume = 1.0000
driver_volume = 0.9000
music_volume = 0.5000

The Settings screen merges with existing keys — custom HUD preset values (font preferences, etc.) are preserved on save.
